The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks rescinded the state record for the heaviest white crappie catch after finding metal inside the fish, voiding angler Bobby Parkhurst's 4.07-pound catch from March. The previous record from 1964 remains the state's largest crappie. Authorities discovered two steel ball bearings in the fish's stomach after a witness tipped them off about the initial weight discrepancy, leading to the disqualification.
