
NYC Real Estate Developer and Execs Indicted in $86M Fraud Scheme
Prominent NYC real estate developer Nir Meir and several industry executives have been indicted for allegedly orchestrating an $86 million fraud scheme involving a failed luxury condo project and a 34-story office skyscraper in Manhattan. The scheme involved diverting project funds to cover financial shortfalls on unrelated projects and personal accounts, inflating invoices to deceive lenders, forging bank statements, and defrauding the city of New York. The defendants face charges including larceny, conspiracy, falsifying records, tax fraud, and money laundering. Meir has been arrested in Miami Beach and is being extradited to New York, while the other defendants have pleaded not guilty.
