YouTube Implements Stricter Policies on Eating Disorder Content
YouTube has updated its guidelines for eating disorder content, prohibiting videos that show imitable behavior such as purging or severely restricting calories. The platform will also introduce age restrictions on certain content about eating disorders, including videos discussing disordered eating behaviors in the context of recovery. YouTube will place crisis resource panels on Watch pages in several countries to provide mental health resources. The policy updates were developed in consultation with the National Eating Disorder Association and other nonprofit organizations to ensure a safe space for community, recovery, and resources.
