"EU Capitals Unite to Propose Chips Act for Medicines"
EU countries, including France and Germany, have proposed a "Critical Medicines Act" to encourage the production of key medicines, pharmaceutical ingredients, and basic chemical inputs, reducing dependencies on major producers like China and India. The act would replicate European efforts toward self-reliance in microchips and would follow the example of the European Chips Act and the Critical Raw Materials Act. The proposal comes ahead of an informal meeting of the EU's health ministers in Sweden on Thursday.
