DOJ settles with Liberty County Sheriff's Office over racial profiling incident.
The US Department of Justice has reached an agreement with the Liberty County Sheriff's Office in Georgia after a racial discrimination complaint was filed by Delaware State University's women's lacrosse team. The team was stopped by officers for a minor traffic violation and searched using a K-9 officer. As part of the agreement, the sheriff's office will review its bias-free policing policies and make necessary updates to its policies on traffic enforcement and searches. The DOJ will continue to ensure that federally funded law enforcement agencies comply with federal civil rights laws.
