Harris County Deputy Indicted for Murder in Fatal Shoplifting Shooting
Harris County Sheriff's Deputy Sgt. Garret Hardin has been indicted on a murder charge for the fatal shooting of Roderick Brooks. Brooks was shot in the back of the neck after a foot chase, during which he allegedly stole from a Dollar General and pushed the manager. While authorities claim Brooks posed a threat, witnesses and evidence suggest he was shot in "cold blood." Hardin's attorney suggests the indictment is politically motivated. If convicted, Hardin faces a sentence ranging from five to 99 years or life in prison.
