Navy Implements Automatic Promotion for E-4 After 30 Months of Service
The Navy is implementing a time-in-service advancement model for junior enlisted sailors, promoting them to E-4 after 30 months in the Navy. The new policy, called Apprentice Advancement Alignment, aims to provide clarity and predictability for sailors' advancement. It also includes the Detailing Marketplace Assignment policy, which offers incentives for sailors to extend their sea tour. The Navy will phase in the new policy, with all advancements for ranks E-1 to E-4 happening through the time-in-service policy by July 1, 2024. Other service branches have already adopted similar models.
