Montana faces legal battles over abortion and teen regulations.
A Montana court has temporarily blocked a new law that bans dilation and evacuation abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy. The law was signed by Republican Governor Greg Gianforte on Tuesday and took effect immediately. However, the court found that the ban likely violates the Montana Constitution and granted Planned Parenthood of Montana's request for a temporary restraining order. A hearing on abortion providers' request for a preliminary injunction is scheduled for Tuesday. Access to abortion in Montana has been guaranteed under a 1999 state Supreme Court decision.
