Trapped Americans in Gaza face uncertain exit as diplomatic deal falters
Hundreds of Americans and other foreign nationals are stuck in Gaza as Egypt refuses to allow them to leave through the border crossing it controls, despite a diplomatic deal brokered among the US, Egypt, and Israel. Egypt is reportedly demanding that the US and Israel allow shipments of aid into Gaza before allowing people to cross. The Rafah crossing has been blocked with concrete slabs, leaving travelers stranded. Doctors Without Borders also demands access for their aid workers. The death toll in Gaza has risen to over 2,200, including at least 29 Americans.
