Queen's Music Catalog May Fetch Over $1 Billion in Sale
Universal Music Group is reportedly in talks to acquire Queen's music catalog from Disney Music Group for over $1 billion, which would make it the biggest artist catalog sale in history. Queen remains one of the most popular groups in the world today, with their biopic "Bohemian Rhapsody" becoming the highest-grossing musical biopic of all time. The band's members and Freddie Mercury's estate reportedly each own equal shares in the company Queen Productions Ltd, which owns the group's recording catalog outside the U.S. and Canada.
