High School Volleyball Teams Face Disqualification for Charity Event Participation
The Houston Tigers volleyball team's season came to an end after losing to Stover, just hours after a judge reinstated them following a ruling by the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) disqualifying them for playing with three ineligible players. The judge deemed MSHSAA's ruling excessive, but the violation of a bylaw forbidding players from participating in non-school competitions during the same season led to the punishment of forfeit. Houston school leaders claim to have self-reported the violation and argue that other schools had players in the same tournament.
