China Braces for Doksuri Floods, Urges Beijing Residents to Stay Indoors
Northern China is preparing for potential floods caused by the Doksuri storm, which has already caused havoc in southern areas. Residents in Beijing have been warned to stay indoors due to expected record rains. The storm, one of the strongest to hit China in years, has forced hundreds of thousands to evacuate in the southern province of Fujian. The Ministry of Water Resources has raised emergency warnings for Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei province, with several rivers expected to flood. Thousands have already been evacuated in Beijing and Shijiazhuang. Another typhoon, Khanun, is approaching and could cause further damage to crops already affected by Doksuri.
