Steve Sidwell, Legendary Coordinator of Saints' 'Dome Patrol,' Passes Away at 78
Steve Sidwell, former defensive coordinator of the New Orleans Saints, passed away at the age of 78. Sidwell played a crucial role in the success of the Saints' defense from 1986 to 1994, leading the team to multiple playoff appearances and developing several of the franchise's greatest defensive players. Under his guidance, the Saints' "Dome Patrol" defense twice led the league in fewest points allowed and pass defense, and once in run defense. Sidwell was inducted into the Saints Hall of Fame in 2004 and also served as a defensive coordinator for the Houston Oilers, New England Patriots, and Seattle Seahawks during his NFL career.
