Spirit Airlines Sees Path to Profitability with Q4 Earnings Improvement
Spirit Airlines narrowed its fourth-quarter loss to $184 million and expressed confidence in its path back to profitability despite challenges such as falling domestic fares, grounded planes due to engine issues, and the blocked acquisition by JetBlue Airways. The airline is assessing options to address looming debt maturities and has been making adjustments to cut costs and drive cash flow generation. While it still expects to lose money in the first quarter, Spirit reported improved financials compared to the year-ago quarter and is in talks for compensation with Pratt & Whitney over grounded aircraft, which it believes will provide significant liquidity in the coming years.
