Trump Grants Clemency to Philly Union Boss Johnny Doc
President Donald Trump commuted the six-year prison sentence of John 'Johnny Doc' Dougherty, the longtime Philadelphia union leader convicted in 2023 of bribery and embezzling about $600,000 from Local 98 of the IBEW; his attorney says he could be released soon. Dougherty had been indicted in 2019 after an FBI investigation and, with City Council member Bobby Henon, was convicted of conspiracy in 2021 (Dougherty eight counts; Henon ten).
