
Department of Medicine Gets New Leadership
After 15 years of distinguished leadership, Douglas Vaughan will step down as chair of Medicine at Northwestern University, effective September 1. He will be succeeded by Susan Quaggin, who will also serve as physician-in-chief at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Northwestern Medical Group. Vaughan will become the Irving S. Cutter Professor of Medicine Emeritus and director of the Potocsnak Longevity Institute. Quaggin is the first woman to serve as Northwestern University’s chair of Medicine and is known for her extensive research related to kidney health.
