Roman Cargo Emerges from Sicilian Depths
A Roman-era shipwreck dating to the 2nd–1st centuries BC was found about 3 miles off Mazara del Vallo, Sicily, at 46 meters depth, with hundreds of amphorae (mostly Dressel 1A) and two lead anchors. Culture Minister Giuli called it extraordinary; authorities will document, protect, and study the site further.
