The Alarming Link Between Job Stress and Heart Disease in Men
Men in stressful jobs who feel underappreciated are twice as likely to develop heart disease, according to a study published in the Journal of the American Heart Association. The research, conducted over nearly two decades, found that men who experienced either stress or effort-reward imbalance had a 49% increased risk of heart disease compared to those who didn't report these stresses. Men who experienced both stress and effort-reward imbalance together were at twice the risk. The study did not find a similar link in women participants. The findings highlight the need to address stressful working conditions for better employee and employer well-being.
