Fatal Friendly Fire: IDF Probe Reveals Egoz Soldier Accidentally Kills Palestinian Teen in West Bank Raid
An IDF probe into the death of Sgt. First Class David Yehuda Yitzhak during a military operation in Jenin last month has confirmed that he was fatally shot by friendly fire. The investigation revealed gaps in the positioning of forces during the withdrawal from the refugee camp. The IDF has taken disciplinary measures against officers in the Oz Brigade, including censuring a company commander and dismissing a squad commander. Egoz, the commando unit to which Yitzhak belonged, has a history of friendly fire incidents. The operation in Jenin targeted a local wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad and resulted in the demolition of weapon storage sites and other "terror infrastructure."
