Possible Plane Crash in Virginia Prompts Search Efforts
A Cessna Citation plane that took off from Elizabethton Municipal Airport in Tennessee and was bound for Long Island MacArthur Airport in New York crashed near Montebello, Virginia, according to the FAA. The F-16s were scrambled to investigate the unresponsive plane flying a strange flight path over the D.C. area, and the pilot was found unconscious. The cause of the crash and identities of occupants are unknown, and the FAA and NTSB are investigating the incident.
