Lightning Causes Deaths of Two Elk Hunters in Colorado Wilderness
Two experienced elk hunters, Andrew Porter and Ian Stasko, were killed by lightning during a storm in Colorado's San Juan Wilderness, with autopsies confirming lightning as the cause of death. The storm struck while they were under a large tree, and despite being properly dressed for the conditions, they were caught off-guard by the severe weather.
