Luis Díaz's Father Freed by ELN Guerrillas in Colombia
The father of Liverpool striker Luis Díaz, who was kidnapped by ELN guerrillas in Colombia, has been released after a 12-day ordeal. The release was announced by the government delegation currently in peace negotiations with the guerrilla group. Luis Díaz had pleaded for his father's freedom after scoring in a Premier League match, wearing a T-shirt saying "Freedom for Papa." The ELN acknowledged the kidnapping as a mistake and ordered the release. The footballer's mother was rescued shortly after the abduction. The government's peace talks delegation demanded the ELN to free anyone still in captivity and end its practice of kidnappings.
