
4.2 Magnitude Earthquake Rocks Palomar Mountain and Surrounding Areas.
A magnitude 4.2 earthquake occurred beneath Palomar Mountain, causing shaking across San Diego County and beyond. The earthquake was generated by the Elsinore fault system and occurred 9 miles beneath the earth's surface. Aftershocks are expected, and seismic shaking was noted throughout most of Southern California. Quakes of this magnitude are not uncommon in the region.
