Sony's Tim Bird unveiled the Boot-Time Wizard at the Embedded Linux Conference to help embedded Linux developers tune systems for faster boot times; currently an alpha-stage project that requires human interpretation and is available on GitHub.
At the Linux Foundation's Embedded Open-Source Summit, Sony engineer Tim Bird presented the current state of the embedded Linux ecosystem, highlighting recent Linux kernel improvements, ongoing efforts to upstream real-time kernel support, toolchain changes, and the growing use of the Rust programming language. The presentation also showcased interesting applications of Linux in the embedded space, including SpaceX's Starlink satellite constellation and NASA's Mars Ingenuity helicopter.
