Matthew Rhys Makes Emmy History With Widow’s Bay Comedy Win
Matthew Rhys won the 2026 Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Widow’s Bay, matching his earlier win for Lead Actor in a Limited Series for The Beast in Me and becoming the first actor to win lead acting awards in Comedy, Drama and Limited Series, as well as the first to take two lead categories in one night. He thanked Katie Dippold and others, saluted his Welsh roots, and noted that Widow’s Bay has 19 nominations and has been renewed for a second season; Rhys will also return in Apple’s Presumed Innocent Season 2.
