A Palestinian college student, Kinnan Abdalhamid, who was shot along with his friends in Vermont, shared how his training as an emergency medical technician (EMT) helped him respond to the crisis. Abdalhamid recounted the harrowing incident where a gunman shot his friends and himself while they were taking a walk. He believes the attack was hate-motivated. Despite being injured, Abdalhamid managed to seek help and instructed the police to drive him straight to the hospital, knowing it would increase his chances of survival. His friends remain hospitalized, with one possibly facing long-term care due to a spinal injury. The motive behind the attack is still under investigation.
