"Protecting Against Quantum Computer Attacks: NIST Standardizes Resistant Encryption Algorithms"
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has released draft standards for three encryption algorithms designed to resist attacks by quantum computers, with a fourth algorithm to be released next year. NIST is seeking feedback from the cryptographic community until November 22, 2023. Once completed, these standards will provide organizations worldwide with tools to protect sensitive information from the threat of quantum computers. The effort to develop quantum-resistant algorithms began in 2016, and these new standards will eventually replace vulnerable cryptographic standards and guidelines.
