Germany's Controversial Heating Law: A Compromise Reached

Germany has passed a watered-down version of its proposed "boiler ban" law after months of infighting. The law, aimed at reducing carbon emissions, was originally intended to ban the installation of oil and gas heating systems in new buildings from 2026. However, the final version of the law now allows for the continued use of gas heating systems until 2026 and oil heating systems until 2029, with certain exceptions. The compromise was reached due to concerns over the cost and feasibility of implementing the ban.
