"International Efforts to Regulate AI and Ensure Accountability Gain Momentum"
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the Dutch government have launched a project called "Supervising AI by Competent Authorities" to create a framework for the ethical supervision of artificial intelligence (AI) in the wider EU area. The project, supported by the European Commission's Technical Support Instrument, aims to gather data on how European countries supervise AI and provide recommendations for best practices. This initiative follows the passing of the European Union's AI Act and various efforts by individual European countries to regulate and develop AI.
