Nintendo to retire original Switch lineup in Europe ahead of Switch 2 launch due to EU battery rules
Nintendo will stop selling the original Switch family (Switch, Switch Lite, and OLED) in Europe by mid-February 2027 to comply with EU battery legislation; production will continue through 2026 and devices should remain widely available until the cut-off. The company will roll out revised Switch 2 consoles this summer, with replacement Joy-Con 2 controllers and the Pro Controller arriving this winter, and launch Nintendo 64 and GameCube controllers in early 2027.
