VW Faces Up to 100,000 Job Cuts as Restructuring and Plant Closures Loom
Manager Magazin reports VW could double planned layoffs to 100,000 and may close four plants (Zwickau, Emden, Hanover, Neckarsulm) as part of a broader restructuring that could spin off the core VW brand and its components arm into separate, potentially listed companies. This follows an earlier plan to cut 50,000 jobs by 2030 and a move to shift Golf production to Puebla, Mexico from 2027 to boost competitiveness in the EV era. VW did not comment on the report.
