Colorado Medicaid Tightens Rules: Work Verification and Semiannual Renewals Begin 2027
Starting January 2027, Colorado’s Medicaid program requires adults 19–64 up to 133% of the federal poverty level to prove employment or a valid exemption and renew coverage every six months. Recipients must complete 80 hours per month of work, schooling, or volunteering or earn at least $580 per month from a job. About 377,000 people are affected, but the state expects roughly 175,000 will need to take action; communications will be sent via text, email, and mail, and a Work Requirements Screener will help determine applicability and exemptions.
