Closing the Gender Gap: WTA's Initiative to Increase Female Coaches at Wimbledon
Caty McNally, a 21-year-old tennis player from Cincinnati, is one of the few female entrants at Wimbledon with a female coach, her mother Lynn Nabors McNally. McNally wishes there were more female coaches in the sport, as she believes it creates a different environment and vibe. Currently, there are only 13 women ranked in the Top 200 with a female coach, and four of those coaches are the player's mother. The WTA is working to increase the number of women in coaching roles through its Coach Inclusion Program. McNally and her mother have been a tennis tandem for most of Caty's life, and they are able to navigate the dual roles of mom-child and coach-player.
