Square Enix rides diversified lineup to an 88% profit surge
Square Enix reported a first-quarter FY2027 profit jump of 88.6% year over year, led by a 51.8% rise in digital entertainment revenue and 91.8% higher operating profit. All game segments—HD games, MMO, and mobile/PC—improved, with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales boosting console sales, and catalog titles contributing to revenue growth. Final Fantasy XIV saw higher revenue and players, though margins tied to an upcoming expansion kept profits from widening as much as in other segments. Live-service titles like Dissidia Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest Smash/Grow also drove strong results.
