Ozark fiddle legend Violet Hensley dies at 109
Violet Hensley, the renowned Whittlin’ Fiddler from Arkansas who debuted on the Grand Ole Opry at 99, died at 109. A mother of nine and a celebrated keeper of Ozark musical traditions, she was inducted into the National Fiddler’s Hall of Fame and penned a 2014 memoir about her life and craft.
