Oakland Popeyes Shut Down and Struck Over Child Labor Allegations
Workers at a Popeyes in Oakland went on strike after two high school students filed a complaint with the California Labor Commissioner's Office, alleging that management forced them to work long hours late into the night, violating California’s child labor laws. The workers claim that wage theft and sexual harassment are also rampant at the location. The company has shut down the restaurant and launched an investigation, promising to take action against the franchisee if the allegations are true.
