Brewers clinch NL Central as magic number for first-round bye hits zero
The Milwaukee Brewers have clinched the NL Central and hold a strong shot at a first-round playoff bye. With a 94-57 record through Sept. 15, the magic number to secure a bye is zero. Six wins would officially bypass the Braves for a bye; nine would give Milwaukee the NL’s best record and home-field throughout the playoffs. If the season ended now, they'd skip the wild-card round and face a No. 4 or No. 5 seed; they’re on pace for 100 wins and still have crucial remaining games against the Pirates, Orioles, and Phillies to finish the year, with tiebreakers vs. Dodgers and Braves potentially shaping the exact seed.
