Jury Convicts Canadian Man in Las Vegas Flamingo Theft Case
Mitchell Fairbarn, a 34-year-old Canadian man, was found guilty by a Las Vegas jury on Monday of both felony and misdemeanor animal cruelty charges related to the theft and injury of a flamingo named Peachy from the Flamingo Las Vegas Hotel and Casino in March 2026. Fairbarn, who appeared emotionless during the verdict reading, faces sentencing on December 1. Prosecutors argued the act was malicious, while Fairbarn claimed it was a drunken prank. The bird, a 27-year-old Chilean flamingo, is recovering but remains anxious.
