Two Firefighters Killed in Yosemite Helicopter Crash During Dome Fire Suppression
Two crew members of Fly Precision, Greg King and Ryan Cutter, died when their Eurocopter AS32 helicopter crashed southeast of Ostrander Lake in Yosemite National Park on Sunday afternoon. The aircraft was actively engaged in firefighting operations for the Dome Fire, which has burned over 3,000 acres. The crash occurred around 2:55 p.m. while the helicopter was using a water bucket to suppress the blaze. The Federal Aviation Administration and other authorities are investigating the incident, while the fire continues to spread slowly due to reduced vegetation in previously burned areas, though winds are causing spot fires to the north.
