NYPD fatally shoots knife-wielding man in Lower East Side assault
NYPD officers shot and killed a 54-year-old man who advanced toward them with a butcher’s knife during an assault call at 126 Ludlow St. on the Lower East Side. The man, Wei Chan, was pronounced dead at Bellevue Hospital; his 75-year-old father was injured but survived. Four FDNY members suffered minor injuries. The NYPD’s Force Investigation Division is investigating, and the incident was captured on body-worn cameras.
