Portland Police's Use of Tear Gas Investigated and Found to Exceed Safe Levels.
Forensic Architecture, a British research group that investigates war crimes and human rights abuses, released a report on the use of chemicals against demonstrators by the Portland Police Bureau during the 2020 George Floyd protests. The investigation found that the police used dangerous amounts of tear gas, resulting in protesters being exposed to concentrations far higher than those deemed “immediately dangerous to life and health” by a federal agency. The Portland Police Bureau has been subject to federal supervision for more than a decade and has become synonymous with brutality.
