"Captivating Image Unveils Birth of Gas Giants Around Young Star"
Astronomers have captured a stunning image of a cloud resembling a phoenix, representing the birth of a gas giant planet from clumps of material gathered around a young star. The discovery, located around 5,000 light-years away, marks the first detection of clumps around a young star that have the potential to give rise to giant planets. The image was created using observations from the Very Large Telescope (VLT) and Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA). The findings provide insights into the formation mechanisms of gas giant planets and will be further studied with the forthcoming Extremely Large Telescope (ELT).
