Arrests Made in High-Profile Lake Tahoe Murder Case
Two individuals, including a former MLB pitcher, have been arrested in connection with the 2021 homicide of a Lake Tahoe man and the attack on his wife. Danny Serafini, 49, and Samantha Scott, 33, were taken into custody following a two-year investigation into the fatal assault. The victims, Robert Gary Spohr and Wendy Wood, were attacked in their home, resulting in Spohr's death and Wood suffering from gunshot wounds. Wood passed away a year later. Video surveillance footage played a crucial role in the investigation, leading to the identification of the suspects. Serafini, a former professional baseball player, was apprehended in Winnemucca, while Scott was arrested in South Las Vegas. Both will be extradited to Placer County.
