Fort Lupton Officer Convicted for Endangering Handcuffed Woman in Train Collision
Former Fort Lupton police officer, Jordan Steinke, has been found guilty of reckless endangerment and third-degree assault for placing a handcuffed woman in a parked police car that was hit by a train. The incident occurred in Weld County, Colorado, in September 2022. The woman suffered severe injuries, including broken bones and a traumatic brain injury. Steinke's defense argued that she was unaware of the risk posed by the nearby train tracks, but the judge concluded that she acted recklessly. Steinke is set to be sentenced in September, while the Platteville officer who parked the car across the tracks is facing misdemeanor charges of reckless endangerment.
