Father of Alleged Highland Park Gunman Pleads Guilty to Reckless Conduct Charges
The father of the accused gunman in the July Fourth shooting in a Chicago suburb has pleaded guilty to multiple counts of reckless conduct for helping his underage son obtain a gun. He was sentenced to two years of probation, 60 days in custody, and 100 hours of public service. The guilty plea could set a precedent for holding parents accountable in future mass shootings. The accused shooter, who killed seven people and injured dozens, pleaded not guilty to 117 counts, including 21 charges of first-degree murder.
