Social media influencer Douglass Mackey, also known as "Ricky Vaughn," has been convicted by a federal jury in Brooklyn of conspiracy against rights for his scheme to deprive individuals of their constitutional right to vote in the 2016 Presidential Election. Mackey conspired with other influential Twitter users and members of private online groups to disseminate fraudulent messages that encouraged supporters of Hillary Clinton to "vote" via text message or social media, which was legally invalid. Mackey faces a maximum of 10 years in prison when sentenced.
