Marvel A-listers back drive to free Marwan Barghouti
Over 20 actors who have appeared in Marvel films joined a ‘Freedom for Marwan’ campaign calling for the release of Marwan Barghouti, the convicted Palestinian leader of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades. The organizers say more than 200 cultural figures have signed on, with his supporters portraying him as a Palestinian leader and symbol of resistance and Israel noting his murder convictions. The campaign, launched with UK groups, has drawn endorsements from figures like Benedict Cumberbatch, and has seen political support such as South African President Cyril Ramaphosa signing a petition and a poll suggesting Barghouti would win a hypothetical Palestinian presidential race.
