Salman Rushdie's Warning on Threats to Free Expression
Salman Rushdie, who was stabbed onstage nine months ago, warned against censorship in the United States, particularly in regards to book bans in libraries and schools, during his acceptance speech for the Freedom to Publish award at the British Book Awards. He also criticized publishers who change decades-old books for modern sensibilities. Rushdie has dealt with post-traumatic stress disorder after the attack and has found it difficult to write.
