Russia accuses Ukraine of striking Zaporizhzhia fuel convoys, heightening nuclear risk
Rosatom chief Alexei Likhachev said Ukraine carried out strikes on diesel-fuel trucks delivering to the Zaporizhzhia plant, killing two Russian servicemen and injuring others, and risking safety at Europe’s largest nuclear facility that Russian forces seized in 2022. He noted the strikes came near the plant’s perimeter and emphasized diesel is vital to cooling when the plant’s external power links have been down for weeks. Ukraine has demanded Russia abandon the station and hand over operation to Kyiv; the IAEA has observers there and the plant currently generates no electricity.
