Ireland foils border bomb plot as woman charged
An Irish woman in her 20s has been charged after Garda Síochána intercepted a highly sophisticated explosive device near the border; a man in his 40s remains detained in relation to offences against the state. The device, complete and ready for use, appears to have been intended for an under-car attack in Northern Ireland. The interception was intelligence-led and involved the Defence Forces explosive ordnance disposal team. Police warn that a small number of radicalised dissident republicans remain a threat and counter-terrorism resources are under pressure.
